查了下其实就是广告邮件啦。。

怎么开始的?

我们意识到说,虽然我们在 e-commernce 的营销方面非常强。要发邮件的时候我们用 But when it came time to send mass emails, we were using tools like ConstantContact, SendGrid, or MailChimp.

Can't we do something more powerful than MailChimp and cheaper?
不能做个更好更便宜的吗?

技术栈

Ruby on Rails 和 PostgreSQL,然后是 AWS。
开发到一半我们发现,RoR 和传统 MVC 不太适合我们,
我们需要很多计算资源和读写数据库,EC2 和 RoR 这种组合做不到。
于是我们开始测 AWS 的新东西叫 Lambda.
meaning that we paid nothing unless the user hit the function.
读了一些 Serverless 的书,
We read some books on the Serverless Framework, got involved with the OSS project to see if it had solid roots, and 2 weeks later we went fully Serverless.

怎么找时间和钱做的?

差不多花了 3 年做这个产品。2年 RoR,1年 Serverless (Lambda) happiness.。

We normally use the "Getting Real" approach, which is:

做自己要用的产品
We build products we already have customers for: ourselves.
如果用的人多,我们再改进产品
If they get enough traction, we scale them.
如果用的人不多关掉就是了,反正有其他项目。
If they don't then we can easily close them, as we have other resources/projects within the company.
